Walking in HIS shoes

"We can be sure that we've come to live in intimacy with God, not just by saying, 'I am intimate with God,' but by walking in the footsteps of Jesus." I John 2:5b-6
"Walking in the footsteps of Jesus" is like a young child imitating their parents when they clomp around the house in the adult's shoes. The child is following the example of the parent as they put on those shoes each day in order to accomplish the business of life.
The parent beams with joy watching their little one follow in their footsteps as they imitate their mom or dad. It is a picture of dependence, of intimacy.
Likewise, you show your dependence and intimacy with God when you walk in His shoes. You imitate what you see Him do. Jesus, Himself, gives us the example as He walked in the footsteps of His Father. "I only do what I see the Father doing." John 5:19-20
